Sa Kaeo — Thailand and Cambodia held a border coordination meeting at the Khlong Luek checkpoint in Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, reaffirming their commitment to advancing humanitarian assistance for the people of both countries, and upholding the ceasefire agreement and MOU 43 to build mutual confidence.
At 10:00 a.m. today (27 July), the Thai–Cambodian Border Coordination Office under the Army Area 1 Operations Center convened a joint consultative meeting with the Cambodia–Thailand Border Coordination Office (Cambodian side) and the Cambodia–Thailand Border Coordination Unit based in the Poipet area. The meeting was held to strengthen cooperation on border coordination, monitor compliance with agreements jointly established by both countries, and to exchange information and establish joint coordination approaches along the border area.
The Thai side was chaired by Colonel Bancha Chanchalad, Deputy Head of the Thai–Cambodian Border Coordination Office under the Army Area 1 Operations Center, while the Cambodian side was chaired by Brigadier General Lay Kimhvad, Deputy Head of the Cambodia–Thailand Border Coordination Office. Representatives from relevant agencies of both countries also attended, at the conference room of the customs checkpoint at the Ban Khlong Luek permanent border crossing, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province.
During the meeting, both sides discussed operational approaches for providing assistance to the people of both countries, particularly in the area of humanitarian aid and facilitating those affected by the situation along the border. They also discussed coordinating the actions of officials in the area to align in the same direction, reduce miscommunication, and prevent incidents that could lead to tension.
In addition, both sides jointly affirmed that they would strictly adhere to the Ceasefire Joint Statement (JS) dated 27 December 2025, as well as uphold the Memorandum of Understanding of 2000 (MOU 43), which serves as a key cooperative framework for coordination along the Thai–Cambodian border. This is to ensure that officials of both countries carry out their duties with caution, respect the joint agreements, and avoid actions that could affect relations between the two sides.
At the same time, the meeting agreed that all relevant agencies should maintain close communication channels so that any issues that may arise can be resolved swiftly and peacefully, with negotiation, sincerity, and cooperation as the guiding principles.
Both sides also reiterated that they would not engage in any provocation or take any action that could cause misunderstanding or heighten tension in the border area, and that they would together foster an atmosphere of trust in order to ensure that security operations and assistance to the people proceed effectively.
