Kanchanaburi — Launching "Operation 90 Days: Destroy Narcotics," authorities raided a drug party on a raft disco on the Khwae Noi River in Kanchanaburi Province. A total of 55 teenagers attending the event were found, 34 of whom tested positive for drugs. A large quantity of ketamine was seized along with two rounds of .380 caliber ammunition, and all those involved were taken into custody for legal proceedings.
Kanchanaburi Provincial Governor Ms. Waritha Sanguansoermsri, together with Deputy Governor Mr. Wuttipong Supakwanich, Kanchanaburi Provincial Chief Administrator Ms. Kamonchaya Prasoertsint, Mueang Kanchanaburi District Chief Mr. Somboon Phaen Somboon, and security agencies, integrated their forces to launch "Operation 90 Days: Destroy Narcotics (Operation 90 Days)," raiding a drug party on a raft disco on the Khwae Noi River. The operation was triggered after informants reported that a group of teenagers had arranged a birthday party on board, with plans to secretly consume and sell narcotics during the event. The raid took place late at night on Sunday (3 August).
After receiving the intelligence, the Kanchanaburi Provincial Governor ordered a planning meeting and assigned Mr. Peerawit Chaiwichian, Kanchanaburi Provincial Security Officer, along with a special operations unit from the Kanchanaburi Provincial Narcotics Suppression Center, members of the Kanchanaburi Volunteer Defense Corps No. 1, integrated with the Mueang Kanchanaburi District administrative officers, police from Mueang Kanchanaburi Police Station, and officials from the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Kanchanaburi, to carry out the operation. Deputy Governor Mr. Wuttipong Supakwanich personally went to the scene to oversee the operation.
Investigation revealed that the group of teenagers had rented a well-known raft disco to cruise along the Khwae Noi River for a birthday celebration. The appointed boarding point was the raft pier at Ban Lin Chang, Village No. 1, Pak Phraek Subdistrict, Mueang Kanchanaburi District. Officers conducted surveillance until all guests had boarded the raft, then followed at a distance by motorboat to avoid detection.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., the raft moored along the riverbank, at which point officers revealed themselves and conducted a search. They ordered the DJ to stop the music and turned on the lights, then separated the guests by gender for inspection.
The inspection found a total of 55 guests — 32 male and 23 female. A search uncovered a narcotic substance of Category 2 (ketamine) packed in multiple resealable clear plastic zipper bags, which preliminary investigation suggests was brought aboard for sale to the guests. Two rounds of .380 caliber ammunition were also found and confiscated as evidence.
At the same time, officers administered urine drug tests to all 55 guests. Thirty-four tested positive — 14 male and 20 female. Those who tested negative had their details recorded. The raft was then towed back to shore at Ban Lin Chang, and all suspects were brought for questioning at the Mueang Kanchanaburi District Office.
Initially, officers seized all evidence and took custody of the drug users and those involved, transferring them to investigators at Mueang Kanchanaburi Police Station for legal proceedings, with further investigation to be conducted into the source of the narcotics and those responsible for distribution.
