Sakon Nakhon — Heavy rain and flash floods have inundated several districts. The Phet Kasem Foundation rescue team rushed to evacuate residents in Nong Sanom sub-district, while mobilising a search for "Ta Lue," aged 60, who went missing while going out to round up his cattle. Meanwhile, Baan Klang Tambon Health Promoting Hospital was flooded to a depth of 1–2 metres, and staff scrambled to move equipment to higher ground.
Today (4 Aug.), at 2:00 p.m., a reporter visited the area to survey the flooding situation. Following one to two days of continuous heavy rain across many parts of Sakon Nakhon province, accumulated water levels rose rapidly. Reports of waterlogging and flash floods were recorded in Wanon Niwat District, Akat Amnuai District, Phanna Nikhom District, and Phang Khon District.
Since this morning, personnel from the Phet Kasem Foundation Sakon Nakhon have deployed forces and equipment to assist and urgently evacuate residents who were stranded inside their homes — most of which are garden houses and farmhouses in Nong Sanom Sub-district, Wanon Niwat District — after floodwaters surged in at high levels and surrounded the area.
In addition, one missing person has been reported: Mr. Lue (surname withheld), approximately 60 years old, who disappeared while going out to gather his cattle grazing in the middle of the rice fields. The Phet Kasem Foundation Sakon Nakhon rescue team is currently mobilising personnel and drawing up plans to launch an urgent search operation in the Ban Ko area, Nong Sanom Sub-district, Wanon Niwat District, amid still-raging floodwaters. However, if there is no additional rainfall tonight, the water levels are expected to gradually subside.
The hardest-hit location is in Akat Amnuai District, where the Baan Klang Tambon Health Promoting Hospital (HPH), in Phon Phaeng Sub-district, Akat Amnuai District, was inundated by floodwaters approximately 1–2 metres deep, due to its rear boundary abutting the Huai Thing stream. Medical personnel and staff had to urgently move belongings and medical equipment to higher ground. Most items were moved in time, with the exception of some electrical appliances that were submerged because the floodwaters arrived extremely rapidly. Flat-bottomed boats have been prepared and are ready for use.
The road connecting Ban Khuem, Phon Phaeng Sub-district, Akat Amnuai District, to Ban Chiang Pheng, Nong Sanom Sub-district, Wanon Niwat District, has been cut off by flooding and is impassable. At the same time, a resident who had gone out to set a lift net for fishing was swept by the current and had to cling to a tree — identified as Mr. Chanchai Pha-in, aged 35 — who clung to the tree for more than one hour before officials from Akat Amnuai Sub-district Municipality brought a flat-bottomed boat to rescue him safely. Several other villagers who had gone out to tend livestock and fish were also rescued safely in their entirety by officials.
Furthermore, floodwaters surged into the home of "Jo So-sial," a well-known social media influencer from Sakon Nakhon, at Baan Klang, Phon Phaeng Sub-district, Akat Amnuai District. Fortunately, filming equipment was moved to higher ground in time, resulting in only minimal damage. At present, relevant agencies and local rescue teams continue to mobilise assistance for those affected without pause, and are closely monitoring the ongoing mission to search for the missing Mr. Lue.
