"Dr. Tan" volunteers to sponsor young Afghan "Naezatullah" through medical school, continuing "Hlun Solo's" wish — Thai UN worker in Afghanistan now also helping with the search

"Dr. Tan" — Dr. Tany Thaniyavarn — announced through his personal social media in English that he is volunteering to sponsor a young Afghan named "Naezatullah" to study medicine, in order to carry on the wish of "Hlun Solo." In the latest development, a Thai national working for the UN in Afghanistan has stepped in to help track down young Naezatullah, adding another effort to give this young man a chance.

On 3 August, the Facebook page "หนูน้อยบนยอดเขาอันหนาวเหน็บ" (Little One on the Freezing Mountain Peak) posted a photo of Dr. Tany Thaniyavarn, also known as "Dr. Tan," with the following message:

"Dr. Tan" — Dr. Tany Thaniyavarn (Tany Thaniyavarn, MD) — announced through his personal social media in English that he is volunteering to sponsor a young Afghan named "Naezatullah" to study medicine, in order to carry on the wish of "Hlun Solo," and to give this child an opportunity and a future. The doctor stated:

"…To Naezatullah, I hope this message reaches you. My name is Tan. I am a Thai doctor and YouTuber. You may remember Hlun Solo, a Thai traveler you met in Afghanistan. You took him to many places, and you told him that your dream was to become a doctor. I am deeply saddened to inform you that Hlun has now passed away. But before he left, he made a promise that if you were accepted into medical school, he would support your education. I do not want that promise to disappear. As a Thai person and as a doctor, I would like to continue what Hlun intended. Please keep studying and do your very best. If you are accepted into medical school and it is confirmed, I will personally cover all of your educational expenses. Naezatullah, you are a kind-hearted young person, and Hlun believed in your dream. I will believe in it too…"

Dr. Tan then provided all of his contact details. The phrase he wrote — "Please keep study and do your very best" — truly carries so much meaning. 🦥

In the latest update today (4 August), the Facebook page "หนูน้อยบนยอดเขาอันหนาวเหน็บ" received a message from one of its followers, reading: "Hello, Little One. My colleagues and I — Thai nationals working for the UN in Afghanistan — will help search for Naezatullah. We will keep you updated on any progress."

The page "หนูน้อยบนยอดเขาอันหนาวเหน็บ" posted on its Facebook page: A moment ago, I received an update from one of our followers regarding "Naezatullah," the young Afghan boy who dreams of becoming a doctor — a dream that Dr. Tan has now volunteered to carry forward in place of "Hlun Solo," asking only that the boy get in touch. However, the village where he lives is quite remote and has no internet signal, making it difficult to contact or locate him.

A heartfelt thank-you also goes to the Thai nationals in Afghanistan and to the UN.
