Metropolitan Police Division 1 expands drug network operation, arrests 4 suspects, seizes 8 crates of ice weighing more than 300 kg after more than 5 months of surveillance.
The Metropolitan Police Investigation Division 1 (Metropolitan Police Bureau Investigation Sub-Division 1) has expanded on a case involving nearly 4.3 million methamphetamine pills seized in March 2026, subsequently tracking a drug-trafficking network continuously for more than 5 months. Investigators found that the suspect group was using a private logistics company to transport narcotics from Sakon Nakhon Province into Bangkok, deploying a lead vehicle and a cargo vehicle to evade detection by authorities.
Most recently, today (4 Aug.), the investigation team deployed officers and arrested 4 suspects: 1. Mr. Worachai (nickname: Kon), aged 30, who served as the driver of the pickup truck; 2. Mr. Thanakorn (nickname: Wai), aged 26, who was a passenger in the pickup truck; 3. Mr. Wasan (nickname: Chaem), aged 27, who served as the driver of the sedan (the lead vehicle); and 4. Ms. Wasana (nickname: Nan), aged 25, who was a passenger in the sedan (the lead vehicle).
Officers also seized evidence consisting of crystal methamphetamine (ice) packed in 8 crates, 1 pickup truck, and 1 sedan, before taking all suspects and seized evidence into custody and transferring them to investigators at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau to proceed with charges and to further expand the investigation to other members of the network.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Theeradet Thammasuthee, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, stated that this arrest was the result of the investigation team's continuous follow-up work, which successfully intercepted a large consignment of narcotics before it could enter inner Bangkok. He also appealed for public cooperation, urging anyone who notices suspicious behaviour or suspicious parcels to immediately notify authorities for an inspection.
