Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong delivers special lecture to Cyber Model Teachers, 2nd Cohort, Provincial Police Region 8 — sets goal of one teacher expanding the proactive cyber vaccine to 100 families.
On 3 August at 4:00 p.m., Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector-General of the Royal Thai Police, in his capacity as Deputy Director of the Royal Thai Police's Technology Crime Suppression Centre and Spokesman of the Royal Thai Police Office, delivered a special lecture titled "Cyber Vaccine: Building Public Immunity Through Model Teachers" to 242 participants attending the Integrated Technology Crime Prevention Model Teacher Seminar Project (Cyber Model Teachers), 2nd Cohort, covering officers from every police station in every province under Provincial Police Region 8, at the Provincial Police Region 8 Training Centre, Mueang District, Surat Thani Province.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong stated that online criminal threats represent a new form of security threat causing enormous damage worldwide, worth several trillion baht per year, and affecting Thais across all walks of life, with losses running to tens of billions of baht per year. He noted that perpetrators typically exploit psychological tactics to attack victims' minds in five ways: instilling fear, greed, love, sympathy, and a sense of urgency — causing victims to make poor decisions, resulting in widespread harm.
He therefore stressed that the key role of Cyber Model Teachers is to go out into their communities and build cyber-threat protection for local residents across all target groups, raising public awareness so people can see through scammers — not clicking on links, not installing any application from a link, not believing, not rushing, not transferring money, not disclosing OTP codes, and hanging up immediately upon identifying a scammer.
In addition, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong stated that the target is for each model teacher to go out into the field and expand knowledge to build cyber-threat immunity among 100 households, in order to create a force for proactive cybercrime prevention.
