The car's owner has since revealed it is a Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC Coupe Special Edition — a limited-edition model of which only 18 units in this color exist in Thailand — sending netizens reeling over repair costs that could easily run into the hundreds of thousands of baht. Police have already issued a summons for the other party to report and acknowledge the charges.
Today (3 Aug.), it has to be said — one moment of uncontrolled rage could leave someone financially drained for months. The incident stems from a scorching viral clip circulating online, in which a man lost his temper after being honked at, then stormed straight over and violently smashed the window of a luxury vehicle. The car's owner subsequently came forward with jaw-dropping details: the car that was smashed is a Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC Coupe Special Edition, a limited-edition model, and only 18 units in this color exist in all of Thailand. Netizens were left clutching their heads, as the cost of genuine parts and an authorized-center respray is all but certain to shoot up into the hundreds of thousands of baht.
After the clip spread online, public opinion divided sharply into two camps. One side asked why the driver honked in the first place, while the other argued that regardless of being honked at, flying into a rage and destroying someone else's property is simply not an acceptable response. Ultimately, however, everyone agreed on one thing: honking your horn in Thailand is a real emotional trap — just two seconds of it, and you might end up with a repair bill that stretches all the way to the garage.
On the progress of the case, "Nong Miu" and her boyfriend, the owners of the luxury Benz, have already traveled to give statements and guided investigators to the scene of the incident. Investigators at Phutthamonthon Police Station have proceeded to issue a summons for the man seen in the clip to report and acknowledge the charges, and are also moving quickly to track down other individuals involved. Should he continue to ignore the summons and fail to appear by the appointed time, officers will seek court approval to issue an arrest warrant.
What began as a roadside flash of anger is now turning into a full-blown legal case — one in which the perpetrator may face criminal penalties as well as civil damages that, once the figures are seen, are sure to make anyone break out in a cold sweat.
