Sri Racha News Center — Flash floods swept through multiple areas of Makham District, Chanthaburi Province, in the middle of the night, affecting more than 30 households and two resorts. Rain has since stopped, but local agencies continue to monitor the situation closely.
A reporter filed that in the middle of the night on 28 July, flash floods inundated multiple areas of Makham District, Chanthaburi Province, following sustained heavy rainfall. More than 30 households across 3 sub-districts and 8 villages were submerged under high water levels, and two resorts were also affected. A total of 48 tourists staying at the resorts remained safe and chose not to evacuate.
A ground survey conducted this morning (29 July) found that the hardest-hit area was Ban Thap Nakhon, Village No. 6, Patthawi Sub-district, where floodwaters poured into "O2 Zone Resort," leaving 20 tourists stranded. All were able to take shelter on the second floor.
Additional damage to infrastructure was found at several points: a section of Route 3329 in front of the Khiri Than project suffered subsidence; Lung Phloen Bridge, Soi Phliu Noi, and Soi Khao Lum Tai all sustained heavy damage; and more than 10 households in the area were flooded.
In Village No. 7, Ban Pong Rong Sen, 16 households were flooded, affecting 48 residents. In Village No. 8, Ban Hin Lat, floodwaters entered Ueang Luang Chan Resort, where 28 tourists were staying; all took shelter on the second floor of the resort and chose not to evacuate.
Two additional households were flooded in the same area, while in Village No. 11, Ban Ok Phatthana, one household was flooded, affecting four people.
In Chaman Sub-district, Village No. 1, Ban Chaman, four households were flooded. Water levels on the main village road rose high enough to render it impassable for small vehicles. In Village No. 5, Ban Taling Chan, one household was flooded, affecting four people, and rising water backed up from Khlong Pong Rong Sen blocked all vehicle traffic along that route.
In Makham Sub-district, Village No. 1, Ban Nong Faep, two households were flooded, and the area of the Khao Makham Buddha's Footprint site was inundated to a depth of approximately 20 centimetres; small vehicles were, however, still able to pass through.
Following the incident, rescue personnel from Sawang Katanyu Thammasathan Chanthaburi, Patthawi Sub-district Municipality, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center Region 17 Chanthaburi, the Chanthaburi Provincial Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and Chanthaburi Provincial Civil Defence Volunteers all deployed to the area to provide assistance and evacuate residents.
The Makham District Chief assigned sub-district-level deputy district officers to conduct damage surveys on the ground and provide initial assistance to affected residents, including the distribution of consumer goods and close care for disaster victims.
Chanthaburi Province and relevant agencies continue to monitor the situation without let-up. Earlier, they had issued warnings to be on alert for flash floods, overflowing forest runoff, and waterlogging during the period of 26–30 July 2026, in preparation for the impacts of heavy rainfall.
As of 09:00 this morning, no further rain had fallen in Makham District. If rainfall does not resume, the situation is expected to gradually ease. Officials will nonetheless continue to closely monitor water levels and report on developments.
