The Korat Buddhist Lent Candle Procession is underway, with Wat Bing in Chok Chai District opening the show with its spectacular "Angel Lisa" candle float, dazzling the public and tourists at the Chok Chai District Candle Procession Festival 2026, before the procession moves on to join the grand Korat Candle Festival 2026.
Today (28 Jul 2026), the atmosphere of the Buddhist Lent Candle Procession Festival 2026 was in full swing in Chok Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, organized by the Chok Chai Subdistrict Municipality. The five famous temple groups — Wat Nok, Wat Nai, Wat Mai Sra Pratum, Wat Bing, and Wat Bot Khongkha Lom — began moving their candle processions out of their respective temples one by one, heading to the field in front of the Chok Chai Subdistrict Municipality to display them for the public and tourists to admire the beauty of each temple's candle float.
This year, the Chok Chai Subdistrict Municipality launched the processions from mid-morning. The first procession was that of Wat Bing, whose candle floats not only narrate the life story of the Lord Buddha but also incorporate tributes honoring His Majesty the King, Rama X. A major highlight that drew enormous attention from both the public and tourists was the candle figures of angels and mythical maidens bearing faces resembling "Lisa" — Lalisa Manobal, the world-renowned Thai singer — with as many as seven such faces featured in the procession. Tourists and spectators lining both sides of the route came out in great numbers to admire the beauty of the floats and take photographs of the exquisitely crafted candle procession.
The candle processions of the prominent temples in Chok Chai District will depart from their temples one by one and travel to the field in front of the Chok Chai Subdistrict Municipality for close-up public viewing, before moving on to join the "Korat Candle Festival 2026," organized by the Nakhon Ratchasima City Municipality at the Thao Suranari Monument Plaza, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, on the morning of tomorrow (29 Jul 2026).
