The drama surrounding the JuniorMark fan meet event has escalated to an international level! The Chinese Embassy in Thailand has issued a statement demanding justice for a Chinese national who claims to have been subjected to excessive force by security guards at a book fair, and has called on Thai authorities to urgently investigate the facts of the matter and take appropriate accountability measures as soon as possible. The event organizer has already acknowledged that "force was used beyond what the situation warranted."
The incident stems from a heated online controversy surrounding a mini fan meeting/celebrity meet-and-greet event (JuniorMark) held within a book fair in Bangkok on 25 July.
Today (27 July), the official page of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Thailand (Chinese Embassy Bangkok) issued a statement to clarify the matter and demand justice for its citizen. The Chinese Embassy stated that it had received a complaint from a Chinese national who alleged that security personnel at the book fair had used excessive force and forcibly removed them from the event venue.
At the same time, the Embassy also noted that it had taken note of the statement issued by the book fair organizer, in which the organizer acknowledged that "force was used beyond what the situation warranted," as reported. For this reason, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand has lodged a complaint calling on relevant Thai authorities to urgently and promptly investigate all the facts of the matter, and to find appropriate remedial measures and take responsibility for the incident as swiftly as possible.
The Chinese Embassy also affirmed that it will provide necessary assistance to the Chinese national in question within the scope of its duties, and will protect the lawful rights and interests of its citizens to the fullest extent.
