Sa Kaeo — Police have stepped up the manhunt for "Ai Pong" and "Ai Thong," the suspects in the case of the two missing Russian brothers, after it was found that the pair rode a motorcycle through a checkpoint in the middle of the night in Chanthaburi. Authorities believe they are heading toward an escape route out of the country. Emergency line 191 has been ordered to alert every police station, while police and military in Sa Kaeo have sealed the border, setting up checkpoints on every route to prevent the suspects from crossing into a neighbouring country, as the search to bring them to justice as quickly as possible intensifies.
Following the case of "Ai Pong" and "Ai Thong," the suspects in the disappearance of two Russian brothers, who were found to have ridden a motorcycle through a checkpoint in the middle of the night in Chanthaburi and are believed to be making their way to an escape route out of the country — a reporter has now confirmed that investigations revealed the two suspects rode a motorcycle and fled through a checkpoint in the Khao Laem area, Soi Dao District, Chanthaburi Province, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on 31 July, speeding away from the area.
This has led authorities to believe that the suspects may be travelling toward the northeastern region to seek a way to flee the country through the Thai–Lao border. Following receipt of this information, Emergency Centre 191 issued alerts to police stations nationwide, particularly those in the eastern region and along border areas, ordering them to raise their level of vigilance, set up checkpoints and interception points, and conduct strict vehicle searches around the clock.
In Sa Kaeo Province, a key border area, provincial police have integrated their forces with the Burapha Task Force, military units, administrative officials, and volunteers, deploying personnel to set up checkpoints and interception points in high-risk areas — particularly along the border in Aranyaprathet District, Khok Sung District, and areas connected to the border — in order to prevent the suspects from slipping through.
In addition, police stations in key areas have been instructed to coordinate with security agencies, community leaders, and civilian forces to monitor natural pathways, secondary routes, and vulnerable areas that could potentially be used as escape routes. The stations concerned are: Wang Sombun Police Station, Wang Nam Yen Police Station, Khao Chakan Police Station, Mueang Sa Kaeo Police Station, Watthana Nakhon Police Station, Nong Mak Fai Police Station, Khok Sung Police Station, Ban Thap Thai Police Station, and Ta Phraya Police Station.
Officials stated that this checkpoint operation is a proactive measure to close off every possible escape route for the suspects, and confirmed that they will move swiftly to track down and apprehend the individuals to face legal proceedings as soon as possible.
Authorities have also asked for public cooperation: should anyone spot a person or motorcycle matching the description released by officials, or notice any unusual movement in the area, they are urged to immediately notify local police or call the emergency hotline 191 without delay. The public is advised not to confront or attempt to apprehend the suspects themselves, for their own safety and to avoid interfering with the operation of officials.
