The Criminal Court has granted temporary release to three members of the "Pho Thip" (phantom father) gang — comprising Thai nationals and Chinese nationals — but imposed a condition prohibiting them from travelling outside the country. A fourth Thai suspect did not apply for bail and was immediately taken into custody at a prison.
Today (25 Jul.), investigators from Huai Khwang Police Station brought the four suspects — Mr. Mong, also known as Mr. Mongkhon; Mr. Wor, also known as Mr. Woramet, "Pho Thai Thip"; Mr. Hu; and Ms. Xi, all with unknown surnames, the latter two being Chinese nationals — who are accused persons No. 1–4 in the case of unlawful birth registration fraud, or the "phantom father" scheme, on charges of jointly using or presenting false documents, before the Criminal Court for the first remand hearing, covering a period of 12 days from 25 Jul. to 5 Aug. 2026.
All four suspects denied every charge against them.
The Criminal Court, after making enquiries and finding no objection, granted the remand application for all four accused as requested.
Subsequently, Ms. Xi Tang (XI TANG), aged 39, accused person No. 1, and Mr. Hu Zhenshan (ZHENSHAN HU), aged 40, accused person No. 2, both Chinese nationals, in cases No. Fo. 2063/2026 and No. Fo. 2064/2026, filed applications for temporary release during this remand stage.
The Criminal Court, upon consideration, issued an order granting temporary release to both accused persons, setting bail at 41,250 baht each for both case files, requiring them to enter into a bail bond, with collateral secured. The court also ordered that they be prohibited from travelling outside the Kingdom unless authorised by the court, that their passports be seized, and that the Immigration Bureau be notified.
As for Mr. Mongkhon, aged 50, accused person No. 3 in case No. Fo. 2064/2026, the court granted temporary release with bail set at 17,500 baht, to be secured by a cash deposit and a bail bond.
However, Mr. Woramet, aged 25, accused person No. 3 in case No. Fo. 2063/2026, did not file an application for temporary release at this stage, and as a result, corrections officers immediately took Mr. Woramet into detention at the Bangkok Remand Prison.
