Stocks Close Morning Session Up 5.45 Points as Buying Rotates into Power and Electronics, Fighting "Sell on Fact" Pressure on Bank Shares

The SET closed the morning session at 1,651.45 points, up 5.45 points (+0.33%), with trading value of approximately 53.54 billion baht. Analysts revealed that the Thai stock market moved within a range during the morning session but managed to continue climbing, supported by rotational buying into electronics, power plant, and ICT stocks, while "sell on fact" activity weighed on bank shares following the gradual release of earnings results. For the afternoon session, the market is expected to move sideways within a range, with resistance at 1,660 points and support at 1,640 points.

During the morning trading session, the index moved sideways across both positive and negative territory, reaching a high of 1,657.55 points and a low of 1,642.28 points.

Mr. Chaiyaporn Nompitakcharoen, Managing Director of Securities Trading at Bangkok Securities (BLS), said that the Thai stock market [SET.X] moved within a range during the morning session but still managed to advance. Sector rotation was evident, with buying flowing into electronics, power plant, and ICT stocks, which acted as supportive factors for the index.

Meanwhile, although several bank stocks reported solid second-quarter 2026 operating results, "sell on fact" selling pressure is expected to have weighed slightly on the index.

As for other factors, no new developments have emerged, and tensions in the Middle East persist. Although mediators have proposed a temporary ceasefire, no clarity has yet been reached.

For the afternoon session, the market is expected to move sideways within a range, with resistance at 1,660 points and support at 1,640 points.
