Ms. Kanchana Chokphaisansin, Research Executive at Kasikorn Research Center Co., Ltd., revealed that the Thai baht today (27 Jul 2025) closed at 33.57 baht per US dollar, compared with the previous business day's closing level of 33.68 baht per US dollar. The baht moved within an appreciating range for nearly the entire session, in line with other regional currencies, amid heavy selling pressure in oil markets following signs of partial de-escalation in the Middle East after the United States and Iran temporarily suspended retaliatory strikes against each other. In addition, the baht was further supported by net buying of Thai bonds by foreign investors and the continued rise in global gold prices, which climbed above the 4,100 US dollars per ounce level. In terms of fund flows today, foreign investors net sold Thai equities worth 1,665 million baht, but net bought Thai bonds worth 6,855 million baht.
For the baht's trading range over the remainder of the week, a preliminary estimate is set at 33.40–34.00 baht per US dollar. Key factors to watch during Tuesday through Thursday include the situation in the Middle East, the outcome of the Fed meeting (28–29 Jul), the outcome of the BOE meeting (30 Jul), and US economic data such as the July consumer confidence index, weekly initial jobless claims, and June PCE/Core PCE inflation figures.
